Ubisoft has revealed they are releasing a final update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which will focus entirely on bug fixes like purchased items missing from a player’s inventory. Those hoping for any new content will be disappointed, though, as title update 1.7.0 will not include any additions, both major or minor.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla final update 1.7.0 patch notes

Title update 1.7.0 will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC at 7 AM EDT/4 AM PDT tomorrow, February 21. The small patch size of 0.5 GB on PS5 and 1.6 GB on PS4 reflects the fact that there is no new content in the update. However, the list of bug fixes includes issues with Captain at Katzenelnbogen in the River Raid, conflicts with the Light-Fingered skill, the ability to upgrade the Raven Clan Crew Outfit, and several problems in the Helix Store. You can find the full patch notes below.

River Raids

Addressed:

  • The Captain at Katzenelnbogen isn’t counted when the kill is confirmed.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

World

Addressed:

  • Resolved most of the rare instances where Light-Fingered skill prevented the pickup of key items.
  • Eivor’s hair can clip through the hood after completing an Animus Anomaly.

Armory & Inventory

Addressed:

  • Previously purchased items are missing from player inventory.
  • The Raven Clan Crew outfit cannot be enhanced or upgraded to a higher quality.
  • The total number of Opals in the inventory doesn’t update when picking up an Opal in the world.

Miscellaneous

Addressed:

  • Resolved the error that occurs when trying to claim the Weekly Free Item.
  • Gear packs still appear in the store when the content of the pack is already owned.
  • Items incorrectly appear as owned in some situations.
  • Korean language cannot be applied via Steam Language tab.
  • It is possible to lose Helix Credits when purchasing the Twilight Set if 5/5 pieces of gear are already owned.
  • Issues with pricing of Helix Store items when redeeming pieces of a full set.
  • On Xbox, when buying Helix Credits through the store, they are not correctly added to the player inventory.
  •  In-game pop-ups no longer appear for Shared History and The Last Chapter when launching into the game.

This update is now likely to be the actual final update for the game, although Ubisoft had also said that version 1.6.2 released back in November was also the final update. This update included The Last Chapter, a free DLC chapter that attempted to provide some closure on Eivor’s time in the Raven Clan.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla soundtrack has won the first ever video game soundtrack Grammy award. Composer Stephanie Economou picked up the award for her work on the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla soundtrack composer “shocked” by the win

Economou said that she was “shocked” and “amazed” at winning a Grammy. In an interview published on the Recording Academy’s official website, she expressed her delight at picking up the very first Grammy award handed out for video game scores.

“It’s a big thing and I feel very validated by this community, and I’m beyond grateful to be here,” Economou said. “I’m honored especially because this is the first year this category exists.”

Economou previously worked on 2014’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has consistently earned praise over the years for its soundtrack – from Ezio’s Family and Venice Rooftops to Valhalla’s Dawn of Ragnarok score. The newly-introduced Grammy category itself is a major achievement for the video games industry.

Congrats, Stephanie!

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is getting another free weekend beginning today, December 15, 2022, on PS5 and PS4. Players can use the hours leading up to the start of the event to preload the game, ready to either jump back into the game from where they left off or to experience the world of the Vikings for the first time.

What is the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla free weekend start date and time?

The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla free weekend period begins at 1 PM EST today, December 15, 2022, and will run until 7 AM EST on December 19 for both PS5 and PS4, as well as Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC players through Ubisoft Connect.

Unfortunately, the free weekend won’t benefit those who were hoping to extend their playtime after the game leaves PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium later this month. Valhalla will be available through the subscription service until December 20, the day after the free weekend is due to end.

As with all of the free weekends, progress will be saved for when players decide to purchase the game in the future. The game is currently discounted in the PlayStation Store End of Year deals and will remain at that price until the sale ends on December 21.

Out of nowhere, Ubisoft has announced an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Destiny 2 crossover. Starting on December 6, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla items will appear in Destiny 2, while Destiny 2 cosmetics will make their way to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It’s a bizarre crossover for sure, but at least it’s unexpected in a good way.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Destiny 2 cosmetics include armor sets and skins

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, players will be able to purchase a Destiny 2-themed character pack. It’s unclear how much this pack will cost, but it will come with various armor sets, swords, a new mount skin, and a new scout skin. On top of that, a weapons pack will also be available that will be based on the subclasses in Destiny 2. Each of these weapons will come with different gameplay perks and custom effects.

On the other side of the crossover, Destiny 2 players can visit the Eververse store to purchase an Assassin’s Creed-themed ship, along with Sparrow, Ghost, and finisher cosmetics. There will also be three armor ornament sets. This crossover will mark the beginning of the next season of Destiny 2, which also starts on December 6.

The final update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla includes a surprise crossover mission with Assassin’s Creed Mirage as well as The Last Chapter, which concludes the game’s main story. The game will leave PS Plus Extra and Premium/Deluxe on December 20, so we recommend playing it sooner than later if you have a subscription.

One of the games leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium/Deluxe in December 2022 has been revealed, and it’s none other than Assassin’s Creed Valhalla from the Ubisoft+ Classics catalog. The game was included in the PS Plus launch lineup in May (or June, depending on region) as part of Ubisoft’s offering to the revamped service, available to all Extra and Premium members at no additional cost. Neither Sony nor Ubisoft revealed how long Ubisoft+ Classics will remain in the PS Plus catalog.

Full list of games leaving PS Plus in December has yet to be revealed

As spotted by Reddit user chaoszage90, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will leave PS Plus Extra and Premium/Deluxe on December 20th. We’re pretty sure this isn’t the only game being removed from PS Plus in December, and like earlier this month, we will endeavor to report a list of games leaving the service.

Unfortunately, Sony doesn’t exactly announce when games are set to leave PS Plus unless you’re on the Essential tier, and the company doesn’t make it easy to get this information either, due to which players are stuck manually compiling a list. For now, you better wrap up your Assassin’s Creed Valhalla campaign because it’s not exactly short.

Assassin’s Creed fans are split over the news that AC Valhalla New Game Plus mode isn’t happening after all. A day ago, Ubisoft announced that it has begun sunsetting development on the game after two years of continuous support, and confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s final content update will not include a New Game+ mode like its predecessor Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

What fans are saying about lack of AC Valhalla New Game Plus Mode

Ubisoft said that it considered implementing New Game+ since it’s a highly-requested feature, but found that unlike its predecessors, Valhalla’s structure and depth doesn’t make room for such a mode to offer unique and rewarding replayability. While some players agree with this, others have said that after investing hundreds of hours into the game, they would like to start over while retaining their skills and weapons rather than starting over from scratch.

“No New Game+, then what is the point of all those end game gears and Helix items?” quizzed one player. “Just because NG+ isn’t unique or doesn’t provide rewards, doesn’t mean there isn’t a reason to play it,” wrote another.

“I kinda agree with them that it wouldn’t work,” another player chimed in. “Valhalla’s main game has no repeat weapons or real level system so the rewards would’ve just been cosmetic like the post launch.”

The free The Last Chapter DLC will be the final content update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Ubisoft has revealed that after two full years of post-launch support, they will release Title Update 1.6.2 that will include The Last Chapter and other new content, including a few surprises, but there will be no more additions after that.

What’s included in the final content update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla?

Previously announced at Ubisoft Showcase, the free The Last Chapter DLC will tie up some of the loose storylines and attempt to provide some closure on Eivor’s time in the Raven Clan. The new update also includes the option to keep your hood up at any time, which will be a choice found in the in-game Options menu. Finally, there will be “a few more surprises in store” that will be kept secret until the release of Title Update 1.6.2.

What won’t be included in the update is a New Game + mode. The team decided that “the depth of the game gave us limited options to make replayability unique and rewarding”, therefore the mode will not be added in the future.

The time-limited festival events in Ravensthorpe will no longer run either. Those who missed out on rewards from the Yule, Ostara, Sigrblot, or Oskoreia Festivals will be able to find those items at merchants located throughout England once they have completed the quest The First Night of Samhain. These items will cost an unspecified amount of silver and will be joined by brand-new items added with the latest title update.

The conclusion of Eivor’s adventure will be the subject of the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla The Last Chapter DLC, as announced in the middle of the Assassin’s Creed showcase during the Ubisoft Forward 2022 that aired earlier today. Gareth Glover, the Ubisoft Montreal game director for post-launch content for Valhalla, reveals that this story-centric DLC will be a free quest arc whose release date will be within the next few months. There are of course some minor story spoilers here, especially if you watch the trailer below. We’ll keep them to a bare minimum in this article, though we imagine that you know what happens with Eivor throughout the game if you’re reading this.

Eivor grapples with her memories in The Last Chapter DLC

As revealed by the trailer for The Last Chapter, which is at about the 16:40 mark in the livestream posted above, Eivor will seek to resolve some of her memories, believing that she has done all she can for her fellow Vikings and is prepared to say goodbye for new adventures. Glover shares that the DLC “nicely ties up some of the storylines” throughout the game and will “see Eivor reunite with some key characters, including some influential historical ones.” Valhalla fans can certainly dissect this first look trailer in more detail.

While it’s clear that this DLC looks to finally give a proper ending to Eivor, it’s uncertain if this is the last update for Valhalla. The title suggests that The Last Chapter will be the last major patch for the game, though Ubisoft has not confirmed whether more content is planned for the game apart from, say, recurring seasonal events. The most recent updates saw the inclusion of a free rogue-lite mode from The Forgotten Saga as well as the return of The Sigrblot Festival in early August.

In other news, Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Infinity it “not a game” but a multiplayer hub, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage has received a wide release window.
