WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A driver has been located after allegedly hitting and killing a man crossing a West Valley Street street on Sunday.
The man was crossing the intersection at 1940 West and 3500 South just after 8:15 p.m. when he was hit. Although medical personnel arrived on the scene and performed lifesaving measures on the man, he died at the scene due to his injuries.
The man was in the crosswalk when he was hit but was walking against the traffic signal and did not have the right of way, a police spokesperson said. The victim's family hasn't been notified yet.
While the female driver in a black car left the scene after the accident, police were able to locate the vehicle in a parking lot at 3500 South thanks to witnesses who provided information.
When officers went up to the car, the driver was not inside. However, she did return in a different vehicle with another driver and told police that she was involved in the incident. The driver has been identified as 52-year-old Troilyn Rascon. She was booked into jail for leaving the scene of an accident.
